In its financial report, Capcom presented updated sales figures for its major games. Monster Hunter Wilds was not among them. The publisher later disclosed the numbers in an investor Q&A: during the first half of the current fiscal year, the game sold approximately 800,000 copies.
According to the Platinum Titles list, sales of Wilds reached 11.8 million copies by June 30, 2026. During the second fiscal quarter ending September 30, the game sold roughly another 400,000 copies. For comparison, Monster Hunter Rise, released in 2021 on fewer platforms, sold 700 000 copies over a similar timeframe (plus six days). Its total sales eventually surpassed 20 million copies.
However, Capcom is not too concerned about the current situation. The company notes that sales momentum improved following the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 version and the major expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, as well as thanks to price adjustments.
The publisher plans to launch promotional campaigns in support of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, expecting to increase game sales in the medium and long term.
It is no secret that after an impressive launch, sales of the action RPG slowed down sharply. Among the cited reasons were insufficient difficulty, lack of endgame content, and technical issues.
Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on December 4, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
