Flight sim “Korea. IL-2 Series” to receive “Deck Ops” expansion — tech-heavy water and aircraft carrier showcased

Through the water's surface, one can see the seabed and its terrain.

1C Game Studios has presented a new developer diary for the flight simulator “Korea. IL-2 Series”. They are currently working on the first expansion, “Deck Ops”, and have published a collection of screenshots.

With the release of the DLC, players will not only fly over the coastline and attack surface targets, but also take off from and land on aircraft carrier decks: “Attention to everything related to water will significantly increase in general. Therefore, for an add-on so closely tied to the sea, we began raising the level of detail of the water environment.”

Due to the technical improvements being implemented, content revisions were required:

Previously, the coastline, piers, and other objects were not designed for the seabed to be visible. Therefore, after the technical changes, we had to rework the entire geometry of the coastline, detail the shoals, and numerous coastal objects.

The wakes left by ships have gained volume — they are not merely projected onto the water’s surface, but actually alter its visual geometry:

In addition, the developers confirmed improvements to other water-related effects: explosions, various impacts, wave crests, and objects and planes falling into the water.

“Korea. IL-2 Series” was released on PC on Steam in late summer 2026. The game received “Mostly Positive” reviews (a 74% rating based on 500+ user reviews).
