Japanese players can look forward to the most adult installment in the series. GTA VI has officially received a CERO Z rating, the highest category in Japan, intended exclusively for adults. The corresponding label has already appeared in the local versions of the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store, along with warnings regarding crime and violence.
The decision itself comes as no surprise given the themes of the Rockstar game. Far more questions arise regarding the content of the Japanese edition. GTA V was released in the country with changes: some sexual scenes and the most violent episodes were removed or toned down. Therefore, even the maximum age rating does not guarantee that the new installment will reach Japanese players uncensored.

Rockstar has not yet announced whether the Japanese version of GTA VI will be censored. The CERO Z rating may indicate that the publisher did not overly soften the game’s content. However, a definitive answer will only emerge after an official statement or release. The question is whether any possible changes will be limited to individual scenes or will also affect open-world freedom of action.
