The Nintendo console has received another major game. Call of Duty: Warzone has appeared in the eShop digital store, so Switch 2 owners can already download it and jump into battles. The game is free-to-play and available independently of purchasing the paid Modern Warfare 4.
The release marks the next stage of Call of Duty’s return to Nintendo platforms. Modern Warfare 4 became the first entry in the series on the Japanese company’s consoles since Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U. Now it has been joined by Warzone, which fans have been anticipating for a long time. Along with the launch of the new season, a large map tied to the latest installment of the franchise was added to the battle royale.
The launch on Switch 2 coincided with the end of support for the previous generation of consoles. On November 6, Warzone servers were shut down on PS4 and Xbox One, so owners of these systems will have to switch to a supported device to continue playing. At the same time, in-game progress is preserved: players only need to log into the same Activision account.
Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale set in the Call of Duty universe from Activision. Players drop onto a large map, scavenge for weapons and gear, fight one another, and try to be the last survivors standing. The game offers large-scale battles featuring dozens of players, diverse modes, and regular updates with fresh content.
