A physical copy of GTA VI has surfaced online — featuring mentions of in-game purchases and online features

They won't be able to play early.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is approaching, and some people have already managed to get their hands on physical copies of the game. Photos of the boxes have begun appearing online — including shots featuring German text. There is no disc inside: buyers will receive a code to activate the game.

Rockstar Games is currently promoting GTA VI as a single-player game, but the box features a label stating that the game will include “online features,” as well as a warning about “in-game purchases.”

Such labels do not mean that a hypothetical GTA VI Online will launch simultaneously with the base game. It is expected that the new/expanded multiplayer could be introduced a few months after the game’s release.

“Online features” does not strictly mean multiplayer; it could also signify that an internet connection is required, or indicate integration with the Rockstar Social Club service. No specific details were provided on the box.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. On that day, the developers will publish a digital version of the poster that players can download and print out themselves; a physical version of the poster will go on sale in the Rockstar store.
