The full launch of World of Warcraft: Forever took place recently. This version of the MMORPG is based on the classic 2004 release, but the developers introduced a number of improvements and prepared additional content for it.
Now Blizzard Entertainment has boasted about some metrics. The developers did not disclose specific numbers, but claimed record figures:
- The biggest launch in World of Warcraft history by peak concurrent players
- A record number of returning players in the entire history of WoW
The developers thanked the community for their support: “Congratulations to everyone — you have made HISTORY! It’s all thanks to you, the players. From our entire team — THANK YOU!”.
Remarkably, such a massive launch of World of Warcraft: Forever did not crash the servers, as the developers anticipated the influx of players. Blizzard Entertainment drew conclusions after the beta (at that time, a huge number of users joined the test) and allocated a significant amount of resources for a smooth launch of the project — several hundred TB of RAM were required.
