The press service of “Akella” announced that the company will publish Warhammer 40000: Space Marine in Russia — a dynamic third-person action shooter that gives players the opportunity to don the armor of one of the Emperor’s chosen warriors.

The game is set in the Warhammer 40000 universe created by Games Workshop. In the 41st millennium, humanity faces the threat of total annihilation — the universe is overrun by terrifying savage beasts and demonic hordes. All hopes for humanity’s salvation rest on its elite warriors: the mighty Space Marines.

In Warhammer 40000: Space Marine, players will be able to take direct control of a Space Marine, a courageous defender of humanity, and participate in numerous epic battles. THQ’s internal studio, Relic, which created such hits as Homeworld, Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War, and Dawn of War II, is responsible for the game’s development.

Travis Plane, Vice President of International Marketing, stated: “Delighting fans with the most exciting content is the main goal of THQ’s game development division, and we are doing everything possible to make Space Marine the absolute best game for both PC and consoles.”

In Space Marine, in addition to traditional shooter gunplay, players will experience bloody, energetic close-quarters melee combat. Players will step into the boots of Ultramarines Captain Titus, a Space Marine soldier, an unyielding warrior, and one of the Emperor’s chosen. At your disposal will be an entire arsenal of deadly weapons that you, along with your armor, will be able to upgrade as the game progresses.

The game will go on sale in August 2011.
