In an interview with GamesIndustry, Matthew Seymour, President of Heavy Iron Studios, who previously worked at 2K Games and Microsoft Games Studios, shared his opinion on the new portable console PS Vita.
“With all due respect to Sony and Vita, it's a disaster,” he stated, also recalling the Xperia Play gaming smartphone, which is hardly talked about anymore, despite its launch only a few months ago.
His colleague Lyle Hall, who also works at Heavy Iron Studios, also believes that PS Vita will fail.
“If gamers don't want to spend $250 on a 3DS, why would they want to pay $300 for a Vita? Users don't want to carry more than one gadget, which is why iPhone and Android smartphones are so popular. They are chosen because they offer many other functions besides games.”
Hall adds that he really likes the technologies implemented in PS Vita, but in his opinion, there is no place in the market for such a device.
In Japan, the launch of PS Vita is expected later this year.
