The rules of the universe are demonstrated to us in the trailer: a dinosaur named Gobbles tried to play a children's game while a cat-girl chased him. Gobbles was faster and finished the game, which led to the destruction of his world — because the game was over, and therefore there was no reason for the world to exist.
About the GAMEOVERSE Pilot Episode
At the beginning of the pilot episode, we see the same cat-girl, named Kit. The character is a hybrid of protagonists from the Megaman and Ratchet & Clank universes – she shoots from a hand cannon and works in a team with a robot backpack, Kaboodle.
The heroes completed their game, and it led to a catastrophe — fountains from DELTARUNE began appearing everywhere, destroying Kit's world.
Kit was saved at the last moment. She joined an organization of characters who are trying to save uncompleted game worlds. To do this, they do everything they can to prevent heroes from finishing the game and even help villains. They are opposed by characters who, on the contrary, help protagonists and hinder antagonists.
The warring factions of heroes and villains, who seem to have swapped roles, went to an underwater world that resembles a fusion of games about the dolphin Ecco and the plumber Mario. The local version of Ecco must complete all levels to defeat the final boss, who looks like an underwater Bowser.
The invaders fight each other directly and through mini-games. The battles are full of interesting details, where each character uses tools and tricks appropriate to their world. It's funny to watch them heal with juice, glue, and batteries, and Kit's ship repairs itself by hitting itself with a wrench.
Our teams are not allowed to directly influence other games – if they tell about the destruction of the world after completion, another catastrophe will occur. So they use indirect methods. For example, by reaching a hero or villain, they explain the secrets and mechanics of the game, supporting them in every way and preventing the confrontation from ending.
Will it replace Amazing Digital Circus?
GLITCH already has a series about a game world — in Amazing Digital Circus, a group of people is trapped in a digital world, and an AI named Caine creates games of different genres to entertain people and prevent them from going insane. Otherwise, they turn into monsters.
An interesting premise, unusual visual style, and memorable characters have made the series very popular. Millions of people are eagerly awaiting new episodes. The finale will be released on June 19, in which the story has every chance to end on a high note.
GAMEOVERSE loses to "Circus" in image quality, and the heroes still have to prove themselves to become as remarkable. But GAMEOVERSE has an advantage: "Circus" is limited to one location, and the worlds created by Caine are incomplete due to his nature.
The new series can have as many worlds as there are game genres. Seemingly incompatible characters can communicate and interact. Heroes and villains will have to come up with new ways to tip the situation in their favor. Protagonists and antagonists can react in the most unusual ways.
It remains to be hoped that the creators will have enough imagination to keep GAMEOVERSE at the level of Circus, or perhaps even surpass it.
