Here, money really does smell
The main character's sister accidentally threw away the rarest and most expensive card from a fictional card game. Without much thought, he got a job working for a beautiful red-haired dump owner named Jenny. At the dump, he hopes to find the discarded card, and at the same time, the rest of the missing cards for his collection.
Work begins by activating one of the piles of garbage, which transforms the "picture" of garbage into physical objects – a convenient mechanic that saves system resources. All that remains is to collect the waste and throw the filled bags into the shredder. You can entertain yourself by throwing bags from a distance – fortunately, the hero's throwing strength is excellent.
Digging through garbage is simplified by the absence of unnecessary mechanics. The game doesn't force you to buy garbage bags, eat, or sleep. If you forget to buy energy-restoring beer and run out of money, the game won't stall – energy recovers over time. And the bright and funny labels on the packaging make the whole process more fun and interesting: dig and examine.
In addition to garbage, you can find whole and not-so-whole cards, boxes with them, audio cassettes with music, and collectible items in the piles. The game's random system is harsh: you can sort through several piles in a row and find nothing worthwhile.
Recycling garbage pays well, and if you turn in full bags, you'll get a bonus. Money is mainly needed to buy recreational drinks. If you save enough, Jenny can increase the size of the garbage bag, stamina, beer strength, and collection speed. Money will also be useful after all upgrades – for buying card packs.
From Rags to Riches
After sorting through all the garbage piles, Jenny will pile on more. This is an excellent time to sort the found cards. Whole cards need to be cleaned of dirt – a simple and relaxing process. But gluing fragments together is not fun at all. Some parts have to be rotated for a long time until they fit into place, and you have to collect a lot. Automation of this process is clearly lacking here.
The card covers were designed by developers and individual artists. You can find references to famous and not-so-famous movies, TV series, and anime on them. Only the heroes from there have been replaced with catgirls – most of them are in revealing outfits and poses, but they don't cross the line of light eroticism.
All cards are divided by type, quality, and rarity. You can exchange three identical cards for a copy with better quality – with better quality, the cover also becomes more beautiful. The game suggests selling cards, but this is unnecessary – they belong in the collection. And you can earn enough by recycling garbage.
Funny figurines are hidden throughout the dump and in rare piles of garbage, which can be rotated and placed on a shelf. Cosplay costumes are especially rare – the owner herself dresses in them with feigned displeasure. You'll have to spend many hours rummaging through garbage to find all the collectibles, and the pleasure of the finds doesn't justify the effort.
Logically, a game with monotonous garbage digging is easier to play with a gamepad. But in reality, it's not easy at all:
- If you open the settings, the gamepad will disconnect;
- The right stick can "break," which is fixed by opening and closing the menu;
- The gamepad performs all actions except drinking – you have to reach for the keyboard;
- Cleaning and gluing cards is more trouble than it's worth – you have to switch back again;
Diagnosis
The only serious drawback of this game with a long title is the harsh randomness, due to which collectible items rarely drop. But even this drawback is not so terrible if you launch the game for its meditative gameplay. And if you get tired of everything, there are codes in the Steam community "guides" to get everything you're missing.
Otherwise, it's a solid representative of its genre. It has no unnecessary mechanics, the controls are convenient, individual elements are clearly visible, the final goal is achieved quickly, and after just 5 hours of measured gameplay, you can buy all upgrades. Don't forget about the unique visual style and the developers' humor, which brightens up the playthrough. Thanks to this, you don't have to regret the time spent.
