Many streamers specializing in Guilty Gear Strive say that the game is currently practically unplayable due to hackers.
A vulnerability was discovered in the game that allows hackers to remotely change the names of other users, leading to performance issues and game crashes.
For their antics, hackers use a unique ID (the so-called R-Code) containing information about statistics, match counts, and user activity. As soon as a player goes online, they immediately become a potential target for a hacker. Streamers try to hide their R-Code, but their viewers can see it.
Although player complaints about the vulnerability have been coming in for several weeks now, Arc System Works has not done anything yet. Esports competitors are worried that the hackers’ antics are preventing them from qualifying for the March Guilty Gear Strive tournament with a 200,000 US dollar prize pool.
