Supreme Court rejects gamers’ bid to block Microsoft and ActiBlizz deal

Gamers desperately tried to disrupt the merger of the two companies, but Justice Elena Kagan rejected their request. Now only the British regulator stands in the way of the deal

The US Supreme Court has rejected a bid by a group of gamers trying to scuttle the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard at the last minute.

The petition argued that the deal should be temporarily halted pending an appeal by the US Federal Trade Commission in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Last December, the same group filed a complaint in California federal court, alleging that the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard would substantially lessen competition or create a monopoly in violation of the Clayton Antitrust Act.
