Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called on the authorities and IT companies to support Russian esports.
“An annual esports tournament will be organized in the Far Eastern Federal District. This discipline has already gained immense popularity worldwide. Furthermore, our esports athletes hold leading positions. Hosting high-level competitions in Russia will serve to promote competitive gaming both in our country and abroad,” the head of state stated.
The first Russian esports tournament is scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
