After five years of development, version 0.1.0 of the Openblack engine has been released, allowing the god game Black and White to run on modern PCs. This is not a full launch of the project, and the developers immediately noted that there may be certain issues that they intend to fix.
Openblack is built in C++, supports the cross-platform Vulkan API, and works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Experimental support for iOS and Android has also been announced.
You will not be able to immediately launch and play Black and White simply by installing Openblack; you will first need to tinker a bit with transferring the game files into the engine, as is the case with Morrowind and OpenMW.
