The director of the third Sonic film, Jeff Fowler, shared the first concept art on social media dedicated to the emotional story of Shadow and Maria. Fowler noted that this is one of the most important stories in the franchise, and the team approached it with tremendous care and respect.
“Twenty years ago I started my VFX career [working on] animating Shadow for his spinoff game. Now I am honored to bring him to the big screen,” Fowler said, emphasizing his special bond with Shadow. The new movie marks a kind of “full circle” for the director.
The global theatrical release of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is scheduled for December 20, 2024.
