Russian voiceover for Baldur's Gate 3 received a major update, for which eight RTX 4090 GPUs burned 432 kWh of energy

A tech enthusiast managed to solve the localization issue for the massive role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3, but substantial resources had to be invested.

Work continues on improving the Russian voice acting for Baldur's Gate 3. Recently, * announced the release of a new version.

As SynthVoiceRu explained — hundreds of kWh of energy were burned:

“Well, this week we burned 432 kWh of energy using 8 RTX 4090 graphics cards to voice 130 thousand lines, and we now have an extra reason to replay this wonderful game over the New Year holidays.

The Baldur's Gate 3 voiceover has been completely updated with the new SV2 model.

You can evaluate the performance of the new model in the video. These are impressive results for fully synthesized speech (in a single pass, without human involvement). This model currently has no rivals and surpasses any other Russian-language models in quality.

A distinctive feature is that it does not require training on the original game files.

I am glad that we can voice games of any scale.”

As before, the Russian voiceover for Baldur's Gate 3 by SynthVoiceRu is distributed for free via the developer's Boosty page and is already available online. A couple of versions are available.
