Publisher Acclaim returns after 20 years. The company will focus on indie studios and classic games

Former Graffiti Games founder and CEO Alex Josef has become the head of the company.

Legendary video game publisher Acclaim, known for its iconic projects of the 80s and 90s, is making a comeback after a hiatus of more than 20 years. The company, founded in 1987, announced its return under the leadership of gaming industry veteran Alex Josef, who has spent more than two decades marketing and publishing hundreds of games.

Acclaim’s new mission is to support independent developers and revive classic franchises. The publisher plans to provide indie studios with resources, including funding, marketing, and PR support, to help bring their creative ideas to life and deliver projects to a wide audience. Among the company’s goals is the “resurrection and updating” of its famous portfolio, which includes such hits as Mortal Kombat, Turok, and NBA Jam.

Alex Josef noted: “It is a great honor for me to lead Acclaim’s return to the forefront of the gaming industry. We have already signed amazing indie projects that we will share soon.”
