Space Marine 2 became the fastest-selling project in the company's history, surpassing the Doom and Wolfenstein series. Players appreciated the return to the Xbox 360-era game style, which gave the project a special appeal.
In an interview, Karch said:
“I knew Space Marine would sell well.”
He was confident because he was “betting on what I was playing myself. I played it for over 300 hours.”
However, just how massive the game would turn out to be came as a surprise to the studio head, and Karch later added:
“Did I know it would sell over six million copies this year? No. But I knew it was going to sell.”
The Warhammer 40,000 series provided the game with an audience, but Space Marine 2 had that very secret sauce that made it the biggest Warhammer game in history.
The success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 strengthened Saber Interactive's standing in the gaming industry and opened up new opportunities for future projects, including collaborations with major brands and developing sequels to popular franchises.
