Electronic Arts is optimistic about the launch of the next Battlefield installment following the delay of Grand Theft Auto VI to May 26, 2026. This was stated by EA CEO Andrew Wilson during the company’s recent earnings call.
Initially, GTA 6 was scheduled for release in the fall of 2025, which posed severe competition for other major game releases, including Battlefield 6, scheduled to launch in fiscal year 2026 (by the end of March 2026). Wilson noted that the delay of GTA 6 opens up a “cleaner” window for Battlefield’s release, easing competitive pressure.
“We have always said that we chose a launch window for Battlefield that we believe is best suited for the franchise. We would not release a game during a period that could limit the value of our investment in the series or players’ enjoyment of the game,” Wilson emphasized.
He added that the company now feels more confident about its chosen release timing.
