Kirsten Dunst continues to actively star in independent films and large projects, including a new role in "Rooftop Hustle" — a crime drama by Derek Cianfrance with Channing Tatum. However, the actress has not appeared in large-scale blockbusters for a long time: her last significant work is Alex Garland's "Civil War", which grossed $127 million on a budget of $50 million.
In an interview with Town & Country, Dunst admitted that it is important for her to maintain a balance between creativity and financial stability. According to her, she does not rule out participating in "Minecraft: The Movie 2": her children really liked the first film, and the actress herself would not mind earning money. "Maybe I'll just star in a movie where I don't lose money?" she said.
This statement is not surprising: the first part of "Minecraft: The Movie", despite the cool reviews from critics, earned $955 million and entered the top three highest-grossing films of 2025.
After the phenomenal success, director Jared Hess stated that "Minecraft: The Movie 2" will definitely be released, and the character Alex will appear in the sequel. Other details have not yet been disclosed.
