The creators of a popular mod for Final Fantasy 14 Online have attracted the attention of Square Enix lawyers.
Recently, players lashed out at Square Enix. The reason was the action of lawyers - they forced enthusiasts to close the popular Mare Synchronos mod.
Thanks to Mare Synchronos, players could share the appearance of their character with others, i.e. players with MS could see the modified hero model. For example, this was actively used for role-playing.
The Discord community spoke about a request from lawyers, but did not go into details:
"It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closure of Mare Synchronos as you know it. We have received a legal request regarding the project. After discussing all possible options with lawyers, it was decided to close it." The server will be closed, and the plugin will be removed.
Some disgruntled players went to express themselves on Steam, which affected the rating of Final Fantasy 14 Online - recent reviews are "mixed".
