Heads of the production company 87North, David Leitch ("John Wick", "Snowpiercer") and Kelly McCormick, stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that David Leitch ("Deadpool 2", "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw", "Bullet Train") has been appointed as the director of the upcoming Gears of War adaptation. The script is being written by Jon Spaihts (Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" trilogy).
Actor Bob Odenkirk ("Breaking Bad", "Better Call Saul", "Nobody"), who is involved in the project as a producer, emphasized that the team is striving to create "something grandiose, with a strong emotional foundation and incredible battles".
Kelly McCormick also noted that the film's premiere is unlikely to coincide with the release of Gears of War: E-Day, which will take place in 2026.
