Stardew Valley has become one of the best-selling games in history, reaching a level that is unattainable for most indie projects. Now Discounty is trying to gain a foothold in the genre.
Gamescom 2025 saw several unexpected game releases that came out without prior announcements right during the event. One of these surprises was Discounty, inspired by Stardew Valley, My Time at Portia, Harvest Moon, and Story of Seasons.
The project is being handled by Crinkle Cut Games. It's a light life simulator with RPG elements, where the player has to manage a supermarket instead of the usual farm. The experiment was successful: the game showed a peak online of almost 3,000 people and received a user rating of 84%. For a debut, this result looks confident.
Discounty is now available on Steam with a 20% discount, as well as on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
