The animated film "Demon Slayer: Infinite Fortress" has taken third place in box office revenue in the history of the Japanese film market, surpassing "Titanic."

In 38 days of release in Japan, the film grossed over 28 billion yen (approximately $190.6 million) and attracted nearly 20 million viewers.

Higher in the ranking are only Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" and the franchise's previous record holder, "Mugen Train."

"Infinite Fortress" is the first part of the final trilogy based on Koyoharu Gotouge's manga. The premiere in Japan took place on July 18. International distribution will begin on September 12, including releases in the USA and Russia.

In North America, the film has already shown high pre-sales: in the first three days, tickets worth about $10 million were sold, which exceeded the starting figures of a number of recent DC and Marvel releases.

Haruo Sotozaki is once again directing, and studio ufotable is responsible for animation and script production.

The Demon Slayer franchise started in 2019 with an anime series. In 2020, the film "Mugen Train" became the highest-grossing anime in world history, grossing over $507 million. Whether "Infinite Fortress" will be able to repeat this success will be shown by the international release.
