Rainn Wilson has stated his desire to play Plastic Man in the new DC cinematic universe. At the Fan Expo Chicago festival, the actor said that he has repeatedly approached James Gunn with a proposal to include the character in future DC Studios projects.
"I've hinted to James a few times, 'You should do something with Plastic Man. He's one of my favorite DC characters, I loved him as a kid,'" Wilson said. According to him, the hero was remembered not only for his appearance, but also for his sense of humor: "Plastic Man comics were very funny. He's a fun, weird, but charming character, and he should be brought back."
Plastic Man first appeared in comics in 1941. His real name is Patrick O'Brien, a former criminal who gained the ability to stretch and transform his body after an accident at a chemical plant. After gaining powers, he embarked on the path of good and became a superhero.
Although Wilson would like to play the role himself, he noted that he would be happy to see Plastic Man on screen played by any actor.
Currently, neither DC Studios nor James Gunn have commented on the possibility of the character appearing in future projects. However, if Plastic Man does become part of the new cinematic universe, the 59-year-old Wilson is ready to try on this image.
