Some have already had the chance to experience the grim new release.
Recently, the first reviews of the adventure action game Hell is Us have started to appear online. Overall, journalists were satisfied with what they saw.
Hell is Us received 79 points on Metacritic; the situation is better on OpenCritic — 83 points out of 100, with 86% of authors recommending the game.
The developers noted that they decided not to give players "any hints," meaning you have to explore the levels and look for approaches to puzzles on your own. In this regard, passing some fragments may be difficult: sometimes the necessary information is located in places that are far apart from each other.
The author of CD-Action believes that it is better for players to take notes; in general, the game design allows you to solve problems on your own, and with careful consideration, you can find signals from the developers:
"...keep a notebook handy and be patient, because more than once I had to check the data and try to understand where I went wrong in my reasoning. Fortunately, I did not notice any errors on the part of the developers regarding the solutions to the puzzles — the problem was always with me, not with the game, although it does not hold your hand and can sometimes make you doubt your own mind.
I consider this aspect of adventure logic the strongest side of the Hell Is Us gameplay, especially since the levels we explore are vast, hide secrets, and the solutions are often suggested by both elements of the environment and fragments of the narrative (the most important clues are automatically recorded on a special mental map visible in the interface)."
Journalists praise the soulslike-inspired combat system, but note the insufficient variety of enemies.
