One of the oldest and most popular Nintendo Switch emulators, Sudachi, is no longer receiving active updates. The project's developer, Jarrod Norwell, announced that he is discontinuing its development and will focus on the commercial application Folium, a multifunctional emulator for iOS.

Last year, Norwell noted that he might suspend work on Sudachi for security reasons after losing access to official pages on Discord and GitHub.

Sudachi was originally a fork of the Yuzu emulator, offering several improvements over the original. After Yuzu's closure as a result of legal proceedings with Nintendo, many of its forks, including Sudachi, faced DMCA strikes and were forced to leave public platforms, making further development difficult.

Despite this, the project continued to receive minor updates that improved compatibility with new games and fixed bugs. However, in recent months, the pace of support has slowed. The final version was released on July 2, 2025, and contained only minor fixes.

On the official Sudachi page, the developer left a link to the Eden emulator website, which supports many platforms, including Windows, Linux, and Android. According to Android Authority, Norwell is likely involved in its development, which is why he recommends Eden to users as an alternative.
