Dominic McLoughlin had 30,000 competitors in the fight for the role of the new "boy who lived."
Dominic McLoughlin, who plays Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO series, spoke frankly about his impressions of the new role, which millions of fans around the world dreamed of.
"Honestly, it's a bit surreal because I was a big Harry Potter fan as a kid and it was a dream role. So I'm thrilled to be able to play it."
Production of the series has already started at Warner Bros. Leavesden in the UK — on the same site where the original films were shot. McLoughlin landed the lead role as a result of a massive casting call that involved more than 30,000 applicants.
The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027. It will be an adaptation of all seven of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books, designed for ten seasons, and promises to be closer to the original.
