It seems that the story of the new installment in the Perfect Dark franchise is finally over.
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier recently returned to the topic of Perfect Dark. He said that Crystal Dynamics was forced to make cuts and abandon Perfect Dark because it was unable to find a new publisher.
Anonymous sources told Schreier that for two months, the heads of Crystal Dynamics and The Initiative were trying to find a new partner, and negotiations were held with several companies.
Take-Two, known to many gamers for the Grand Theft Auto franchise, allegedly showed interest in the project. It was ready to provide funding and release Perfect Dark, but they could not come to an agreement.
Sources told the journalist that "negotiations failed, at least in part, because the participating companies could not agree on long-term rights to the Perfect Dark franchise."
