Overwatch 2 developers have launched a large-scale campaign against cheaters. Tens of thousands of accounts that used mouse and keyboard adapters have been banned.
Blizzard implemented changes as part of the Season 18 update due to the increasing number of players using prohibited accessories to gain an advantage over controller users. The new cheat detection technology works faster and more accurately: more than 23,000 accounts have already been blocked, and the total number of bans has reached 1 million.
Old measures have also been tightened: warnings, transferring players to PC servers. Now, using prohibited devices in controller modes leads to complete account blocking, regardless of rank or mode.
Also, console players can now legally use mice and keyboards, but only in the M+K pool, where there is no aim assist, and only players with PCs become opponents. Attempts to circumvent the rules through adapters or other gadgets are considered cheating and may result in permanent account blocking.
