Cronos: The New Dawn, a new project from Bloober Team, will be released on September 5. Studio head Piotr Babieno stated that the team is calm about the competition with Hollow Knight: Silksong, which will be released a day earlier.
According to him, both games are aimed at different audiences. Silksong is aimed at fans of Metroidvanias from indie studios, while Cronos is a large-scale adventure of a different level. Babieno believes that the coincidence of dates will even be a plus, because players can buy both games, and each of them will increase interest in the other.
Separately, he denied rumors about a budget of over 100 million zlotys ($27.4 million). According to him, the costs were lower, and the project will be able to quickly become profitable even with moderate sales. At the same time, Bloober Team is counting on good results.
The studio reminded that the game aroused great interest at Gamescom, where the debut trailer received positive reviews. Consoles, especially PlayStation 5 Pro, for the capabilities of which the project is adapted, are named as the main market.
Cronos has become the largest original brand in Bloober's history, but a sequel is not yet planned. Babieno emphasized that the team wants to complete the story and only then think about developing the universe. Negotiations are underway on cooperation with film and streaming companies.
The studio's strategy involves gradually increasing the scale. After Cronos, an even larger project is planned, which should become a "new stage" for Bloober. The experience gained while working on Silent Hill 2 Remake allows the studio to do this without a sharp increase in costs.
