Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is a remaster of the PS1 classic from the Square Enix team. The developers had to recreate the game from scratch, hoping for a positive reception. The success of the project may open the way for new remasters and even fresh games in the series.
Kazutoyo Maehiro, the director of the remaster, admitted that he would like to make a remaster of Tactics Advance and A2, as well as new Final Fantasy Tactics games, but it all depends on how the current project is received.
Maehiro stated in an interview that fans of strategic RPGs will easily feel how exciting these games are, but the genre remains niche. Therefore, the success of The Ivalice Chronicles will be key to justifying further investment.
"If The Ivalice Chronicles is successful, it will bring joy to fans and also demonstrate the financial viability of strategic RPGs. This could open the door for remasters of Tactics Advance or A2, perhaps even sequels and new games."
