Digital Foundry shared their first impressions of Silent Hill f, comparing the game's performance on PC and PlayStation 5 after the demo at Gamescom.
John Linneman called the demonstration one of the most unusual at the exhibition. Instead of a short session, the developers provided up to three hours of gameplay in a private area, which allowed them to fully complete the demo on PC and simultaneously observe the PS5 version. He confirmed that the game held a stable 60 fps on the console, and the cutscenes were fixed at 30 fps on both platforms. The smooth frame rate, combined with neat motion blur, made a positive impression.
On PC, the initial performance was less stable until DLSS was enabled in quality mode, which restored a stable 60 fps in 4K. Linneman noted that this was due to the overly demanding settings of the demo. After adjustments, the PC version showed a clear picture and stable fps.
Both platforms demonstrated unusually clean UE5 graphics. Alex Battaglia noted that the game avoided the noise and blur typical of the engine. Silent Hill f effectively uses Lumen software lighting and screen space reflections, creating an atmosphere through light, fog, and environmental details.
Silent Hill f will be released on September 25, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game already looks technically polished, and Digital Foundry notes that the graphics and performance are above expectations at this stage.
