Netflix has announced that the animated series "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft" will end with its second season. The new episodes will retain key characters, and Lara Croft will investigate the theft of African Orisha masks — a story that will once again send her on a journey around the world.
The animated series is created by Legendary Television and Powerhouse Animation studios. Tasha Ho, who previously worked on "The Witcher: Blood Origin" and "Red Sonja", serves as the showrunner and executive producer. The first season was released on Netflix in 2024 and received 73% positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the audience rating is usually more indicative for streaming projects, and here the series failed — only 33% approval from the audience.
Shortly before the news about the end of the animated show, information about a game series from Amazon appeared. The day before, Prime Video announced that the main role in it will be played by "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner.
The premiere of the second season of "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft" will take place on December 11, 2025 on Netflix.
