In the upcoming crossover "Avengers: Doomsday," Robert Downey Jr. will play Victor von Doom, one of the most enigmatic and powerful supervillains in comics. His co-star Simu Liu, known for his role as Shang-Chi, has already promised that viewers are in for something special.
In an interview with the Japanese publication The River, Liu spoke about the filming process and his own emotions from participating in the project. According to him, working with such a cast was a bit surreal: "Every day feels like a dream. I go to work and work with people I respect and admire," he confessed.
Liu paid special attention to Robert Downey Jr. According to him, the actor remains open and sincere, despite his star status. "He inspires me. He's an important part of Marvel history, and yet he finds time for everyone," emphasized the performer of the role of Shang-Chi.
As for Downey Jr.'s new role, Liu is confident that viewers are in for a surprise. "Given his past work and acting palette, I'm sure he will amaze everyone with how he plays Doom," he noted.
The plot of Avengers: Doomsday is still being kept secret, but it is known that the conflict with Doctor Doom will be central to the film. The film will unite not only the classic Avengers, but also heroes from the X-Men universe.
The release of "Avengers: Doomsday" is scheduled for December 18, 2026.
Simu Liu himself will soon appear in Alex Parkinson's thriller "Storm's Breath" about a diver trapped at depth with only ten minutes of oxygen. Woody Harrelson plays the main role in the film.
