Ghost of Yotei will not be a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, so the game is noticeably different from the original. Not all mechanics will return in the new version, which will be released on PS5.
Developers Sucker Punch announced that on October 2, players will get acquainted not with the continuation of Jin Sakai's adventures, but with the story of a new heroine, Atsu. She is very different from the previous character, and, as game director Nate Fox explained, this will affect the gameplay.
In an interview, Fox clarified that due to Atsu's different character and motivation, she will not be the author of haiku, which in the first part could be created in side activities.
Game designers noted that Atsu's life is different from Jin's life. He was a scholar-samurai, stopping to admire nature, but Atsu is not like that.
The second game director, Jason Connell, added that the difference between the characters is emphasized, but Ghost of Yotei will still offer moments to rest from the pursuit of revenge. Camping will remain part of the world - Atsu, as a mercenary, is used to sleeping outdoors, and this is also reflected in the interactivity of the game.
