The film "The Conjuring: The Last Rites" premiered on September 5 and grossed $194 million in its opening weekend, setting a new global record for the horror genre. Of this amount, $84 million came from the United States, and another $110 million was earned in the international market. Thus, "The Last Rites" broke the record held by "It" (2017), which had a leading figure of $190 million.

The film became the ninth film in the "Conjuring" universe and the fourth in the main chronology. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga returned in the lead roles, embodying the images of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Despite lukewarm reviews from critics (56% on Rotten Tomatoes), audiences received the film relatively warmly, with a user rating of 78%.

From a commercial point of view, "The Last Rites" is an unqualified triumph. With a budget of $55 million, Warner Bros. can already celebrate success. The financial result has strengthened the leadership of the entire cinematic universe: the total box office of the franchise, which started in 2013, exceeded $2.3 billion, making it the highest-grossing horror series in history.

Formally, the film is declared as the finale of the Warren family story, but such strong box office figures may well lead to new spin-offs, if not a direct sequel.

In Russia, "The Conjuring 4: The Last Rites" will be released on September 11.
