Blizzard has announced that Overwatch General Manager Walter Kong has become the new Senior Vice President and Head of Development for Games-as-a-Service and Mobile Projects at the Microsoft-owned studio.
Kong shared the news on LinkedIn and explained that he will continue to oversee the "overall strategy" of Overwatch while also taking control of other franchises.
"I'm also excited to lead Hearthstone, Diablo Immortal, and Warcraft Rumble. I look forward to working with the talented teams on existing and new initiatives. Additionally, I'm committed to creating an environment of continuous learning, collaboration, and growth for all of our employees."
Kong joined Blizzard in 2020 as Executive Producer, and in November 2021, he became General Manager of Overwatch. Previously, he led product management (analytics and business operations) at Epic Games and worked at Blizzard in 2011 as Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives.
