Sucker Punch is currently finishing Ghost of Yōtei. But what about the inFamous series?
The inFamous series is one of the most memorable in PlayStation history: a dynamic, super-powered, morally-driven adventure franchise that has gained a large fan base since its release in 2009. The story of a man with unusual abilities has immersed players in a world of a city on the brink of chaos, and exploration, spectacular battles, and plot-altering decisions have made the series unique. Subsequent installments — inFamous 2, Festival of Blood, and Second Son — have solidified its cult status.
But now Sucker Punch, the studio that created the series, is not yet able to return to the brand. The developers admitted that they are working on "one game at a time" and have devoted the last few years entirely to Ghost of Yōtei.
In an interview with MinnMax, game director Nate Fox noted that while he would love to return to inFamous, the studio is open to another option — handing over the series to another team to prepare a remaster of the classic installments.
This decision would allow Sucker Punch to focus on new projects while giving fans a chance to relive the adventures of one of PlayStation's most iconic franchises. Sony owns studios specializing in remasters, such as Bluepoint Games and Nixxes, and perhaps they will be the ones to revive inFamous. So far, this is just speculation, but the developers' open position inspires hope.
