At the Game Developers Conference, Valve shared current statistics on the state of Steam — and also joked about the lack of components, effectively asking the industry for some RAM.

According to the company, 5,863 games earned more than $100,000 in 2025. This is a noticeable increase compared to previous years and, according to Valve, shows that there are more successful projects on Steam, despite frequent talks about the oversaturation of the store.

Valve also talked about the growing popularity of the daily deals program.

  • 1,500 games participated in the promotion
  • 69% of them had never participated in such sales before
  • 8.2 million Steam users bought games through these offers.

This is approximately 125% more than the previous year.

But the most discussed part of the presentation concerned not games, but hardware. Against the backdrop of rising prices and component shortages, Valve admitted that preparing new equipment is not easy.

During the presentation, company representatives joked that there would be no announcements of new hardware at GDC 2026 — unless someone brings them RAM

According to journalists present at the presentation, the speakers even addressed the audience with a semi-ironic request:

If you have access to a large batch of RAM, we are on the market and ready to buy it.
