The film distribution company "Volga" will bring to Russia the film adaptation of Silent Hill 2, directed by Christophe Gans.
The film "Return to Silent Hill" will be a new adaptation of the cult horror Silent Hill from Konami and will be officially released in Russian cinemas. The distributor will be the company "Volga".
The film is based on the plot of the game Silent Hill 2. The main character is James Sunderland, who receives a mysterious letter from his deceased wife. This letter leads him to the foggy town of Silent Hill, where he encounters frightening visions and his own fears.
The main role was played by Jeremy Irvine ("Fallen"), the image of Mary was embodied by Hannah Emily Anderson ("The Purge"). The film also stars Evie Templeton as a girl named Laura. It is noteworthy that Templeton voices and plays Laura in the remake of Silent Hill 2 from Bloober Team.
The project was directed by Christophe Gans, the director of the first film "Silent Hill", released in 2006. Filming took place from April 2023 to February 2024 in Germany and Serbia — in particular, in Munich, Nuremberg and Belgrade. Pablo Rosso was the cinematographer, and Sebastian Prange was the editor. Akira Yamaoka, the composer of the original series, once again became the author of the music.
The film will be presented to the public for the first time at the VKontakte Fandom Fest, which will be held on November 22–23, 2025 in Moscow, as well as at the Comic Con & IgroMir festival, which will be held from December 12 to 14, 2025 at the "Timiryazev Center" in Moscow.
The premiere of "Return to Silent Hill" in Russian cinemas will take place on January 22, 2026.
