Roblox Corporation, at its 11th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), unveiled a whole package of updates that will change the lives of creators and players in the coming months. The focus was on new AI tools, the Moments video platform, and increased developer revenue under the DevEx program.
The main technological announcement was the generative AI functions. The company showed the concept of "4D objects," where the fourth dimension is interactivity. According to Roblox representatives, new assets will be generated with built-in functionality, including interaction with other objects and players. A limited release is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The existing Assistant, a tool that allows you to write code in natural language, will gain compatibility with the MCP protocol and integration with third-party services like Figma and Blockade Labs. Developers are confident that this will allow authors to quickly realize ideas and create more complex projects without deep technical knowledge.
The second big step was the launch of Roblox Moments, a short video service within the platform. Users will be able to record gameplay clips, edit them using the built-in editor, and share them. So far, the project is in limited beta for adult users, but in the future, developers promise to expand the functionality and add an API to integrate Moments into game mechanics.
In addition, the platform will receive real-time translation tools. After the release of text auto-translation in 2024, it was the turn of voice chat: next year, English, Spanish, French and German speech will be simultaneously translated for interlocutors.
The financial part was also not ignored. Roblox announced an increase in the Developer Exchange Program (DevEx) rate: now game authors will receive 8.5% more when converting Robux virtual currency into real money. Over the past twelve months, content creators have already earned over $1 billion, and the company is confident that the amount will be even higher in 2025. Nick Tornow, Roblox's Senior Vice President of Engineering, noted that the company's mission remains the same: to enable authors to turn their ideas into a business.
