Some useful features take a very long time to arrive.
In 2025, The Binding of Isaac Rebirth will be 11 years old. Shortly before another anniversary, Edmund McMillen returned to the game with update 1.9.7.13.
The creator addressed the community — item descriptions and other improvements have been added to the game:
"...let me just say, this is a very meaty update full of new features, balance changes and quality of life improvements, including ones players have been asking for for AGES.
Have you ever hesitated whether to take an item or activate a card because you couldn't remember exactly what it does? Now everything is fine — we have added ITEM DESCRIPTIONS for every collectible item, consumable, and trinket in the game! This might be useful if you are one of the few who, for some reason, can't keep track of every effect out of over 1000."
The "item description" feature will be available upon the first victory over Mom (boss). After that, details about various things and power-ups will begin to be revealed as they are found during runs.
