The new installment of the Borderlands franchise is truly a game "not for everyone."
The head of Gearbox is known for his vivid statements on social media. After the release of Borderlands 4, he continued to adhere to his style of interaction with players.
Recently, Randy Pitchford decided to talk again about the optimization of Borderlands 4 - he drew the community's attention to the fact that this is a project for premium players and is not intended for outdated PCs:
"Minimum and recommended system requirements have been published. The most common device is a four-year-old phone. Borderlands 4 is a premium game created for premium players.
Just as Borderlands 4 cannot run on PlayStation 4, you cannot expect it to run on a very old PC. Unlike PlayStation and Xbox, we cannot prevent a PC player with suboptimal hardware from trying to play it. Therefore, some try and get angry. And some have real problems that we need to fix. And some need to learn how their PC performs on high settings for this particular game in 2025, and use the tools available to them to find the right balance between frame rate, resolution, and graphics options.
This game is not designed to run on 10-year-old PCs - it takes full advantage of modern buses, processors, and video cards. If you're trying to drive a monster truck with a leaf blower engine, you're going to be disappointed.
If you accidentally or due to wishful thinking find that your system cannot run the game normally and/or do not want to mess with the settings to make the game good enough for you, then please use the refund function in Steam instead of getting an unsatisfactory gaming experience".
