Ahead of the console release, SCS Software continues to update the PC versions of its truck simulators.
American Truck Simulator has received patch 1.56, which focuses on the visual aspect. The authors have added the "Height Blend" effect, which improves the display of textures on slopes and other uneven surfaces. The developers have reworked over 1300 materials, noting that the new technology has virtually no impact on performance. The scale of the improvements is shown in the official video.
The update also affects the loading mechanics: it has now become more dynamic. The team has made significant changes to the interface. In particular, the camera controls have been updated with a new zoom mode, the design of the DLC browser has been redesigned, and the UI elements in career mode have been improved.
