The actor who voiced Kratos in God of War (2018) and God of War: Ragnarok from Santa Monica Studio has taken note of his name appearing among the contenders for a role in the Amazon series.
Christopher Judge, who gave his voice and movements to Kratos in the modern God of War dilogy, has reacted to rumors that he may play the character in the upcoming Amazon series. On Twitter/X, he posted a laconic message: "Me???".
The reason was a publication by blogger John Campea, who stated that Prime Video has already begun considering candidates for the role. His list included Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Henry Cavill, and Judge himself. Campea clarified that some names may have been added intentionally to hide the real performer.
This reaction indicates that the actor himself probably has not yet received an official offer. However, he has been showing interest in the role for a long time: in 2022, Judge supported a fan's post calling him the perfect Kratos, writing "signed".
A year later, he ironically responded to rumors about Bautista's candidacy, noting: "They say I can't read the room" (an idiom meaning the inability to understand hints, to read the mood of the audience.), hinting that his contribution to the image of Kratos was not limited to voice acting - he also participated in full motion capture and proved himself as an actor.
The God of War series is being created under the leadership of showrunner Ronald D. Moore in partnership with Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television. Cory Barlog and Yumi Yang from Santa Monica Studio are also involved in the project as executive producers.
The official cast has not yet been revealed. Fans continue to speculate: some consider Judge the most suitable candidate for the role of Kratos, while others note the differences between his appearance and the character's image in the game.
