The wait for the third film in the Angry Birds franchise will be shorter than initially planned.
The premiere of "Angry Birds Movie 3" will take place on December 23, 2026 — a month earlier than the original date. Initially, the release was scheduled for January 29, 2027, but now the film will be released in the midst of the New Year season and will compete at the box office with "Avengers: Judgment Day" and Denis Villeneuve's third "Dune".
The studio also announced new names in the cast — bloggers MrBeast and Salish Matter have joined the project.
The voice cast also includes Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Lily James, Tim Robinson, and others. Jason Sudeikis and Josh Gad will return to the roles of Red and Chuck.
The script was written by Thurop Van Orman ("Gravity Falls", "Adventure Time"), who also serves as executive producer. John Rice ("Angry Birds Movie 2", "Rick and Morty") is directing.
The production is handled by Sega and Rovio Entertainment in collaboration with Prime Focus Studios, Flywheel Media, One Cool Group, and dentsu. DNEG Animation is responsible for the animation.
The first film adaptation in 2016 grossed over $350 million, and the total box office of the two films exceeded $500 million. After the acquisition of Rovio by Sega, the third film will be the first joint release of the companies in cinema.
