Tencent has filed a motion to dismiss Sony's lawsuit accusing its game Light of Motiram of copying the Horizon series. Earlier this year, Sony filed a lawsuit in California federal court, claiming that Light of Motiram infringes on copyrights and trademarks by borrowing gameplay elements, story themes, and artistic elements from Horizon.
Tencent's lawyers stated that Sony's lawsuit is "an attempt to patent common genre clichés". The company insists that Light of Motiram contains elements that were already present in Enslaved, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Far Cry: Primal, Far Cry: New Dawn, Outer Wilds, and Biomutant. Tencent accuses Sony of seeking to create an "impermissible monopoly."
