The production of specific video games is complicated by the peculiarities of the rules in Steam.
It recently became known that Steam has adjusted the rules governing the release of adult games in the Valve service. The creator of Tales of Legendary Lust Aphrodisia spoke about the innovations.
In a recent development diary, he said:
«We were planning to add a few more lewd scenes to the main game while we work on the DLC, but Valve doesn't allow NSFW content to be posted after release for a project that has already passed their review and been released in the store
There's nothing we can do about it — it's their rule, and violating it will result in the game being removed from Steam. So please keep this in mind when requesting more lewd content for the main game».
The creator takes this with understanding; it is reported that Valve was "kind and responsive" throughout the process. "We didn't feel any threat or intimidation, and we got the impression that they are doing everything they can to help developers get through this process."
Such adult content can be added via DLC — they will be checked before release (and developers simply release patches without checking by Valve). It is assumed that this tightening is due to the recent purge of Steam from "incorrect" adult games.
