Nihon Falcom is actively working to ensure that its key series can compete with the leaders in the genre. After the successful releases of The Legend of Heroes, the new remake of the 2004 game surprised even the most dedicated fans.
The studio has been developing two main lines for years — The Legend of Heroes and Ys. Both represent the jRPG genre and provide different experiences for fans of turn-based combat and their opponents. The modern form of The Legend of Heroes is largely due to the game Trails in the Sky, first released in 2004 on PlayStation Portable, and then on PC.
A remake of the project was recently released, which for the first time in the history of the series started simultaneously in Japan and the West. The result was unexpected: the game garnered an average of 91% on Metacritic and more than 97% positive reviews on Steam. Such success is called almost incredible.
Trails in the Sky the 1st Chapter has become one of the highest rated jRPGs and the best part of the Trails cycle, as well as Nihon Falcom's greatest achievement.
